How It Works

Flame of Hope Week is our annual community event where Law Enforcement, Corrections, Athletes, and Civilians come together to raise awareness for Special Olympics Michigan. Participants run throughout the state, carrying the torch as true Guardians of the Flame—champions for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

What is the MitRun Marathon?

The MitRun Marathon is a nationwide running event that takes place across various cities in the United States. It’s an opportunity for runners of all levels to participate in a marathon, half-marathon, or 10K race in their local area while being part of a larger community event.

How do I register for the MitRun Marathon?

You can register online through our official MitRun Marathon website. Simply select your city, choose your race category (marathon, half-marathon, or 10K), and complete the registration form. Early registration is encouraged as spots may fill up quickly.

Can I run the marathon virtually?

Yes! If you’re unable to attend the event in person, we offer a virtual race option. You can complete your marathon, half-marathon, or 10K at your convenience and submit your results online. Virtual participants will receive their race bib, medal, and t-shirt by mail.
